Picking out German Shepherds requires more attention than choosing pups of other dogs. This is due to the tremendous popularity of the breed, which has produced not only positive, but also many negative effects on the breed's condition.
Unfortunately human thirst for profit and glory has in many ways forced quality to take a seatback to quantity. The result of inappropriate and unqualified breeding has been the development of many of undesired and even standard incompatible features. That also has contributed to the growth of congenital diseases and anatomic deficiencies.
Poor breeding practices increase the risk of spoiling many of pure bred species. It is also likely to irreparably affect their pedigree backgrounds. Therefore it is absolutely necessary to exert maximum efforts to learn as much as possible about the breeder from who you are going to buy a puppy. It is imperative that the breeder has conducted all testing and clearing procedures on the entire stock in order to track and prevent possible genetic disorders.
It is much better to start looking for a proper breeder among breeder clubs. All members of these clubs are registered and have the authorization to act as breeders. All you will have to do is write an application form and then submit it to the club.
Furthermore, it is the club's freedom as to whether it will approve your application or reject it. They have a professional approach to the issue of breeding and will do their best to make sure you are the right person to be entrusted with the job of keeping or breeding German Shepherd Dogs. If you are not well educated on keeping and training, you will receive an offer to attend dog keeping and training classes and then to take a special exam.
The specialists of the club will also learn as much about you, your home and family. They will visit your home and study the environment and general attitude of your family members toward dogs. It is also their job to receive information on other animals and pets in your house.
Having gathered all this knowledge and then analyzed it, they decide upon either approving or rejecting your application. Do not even attempt to apply for keeping German Shepherd Dogs if you spend most of your time away from home! German Shepherds need everyday supervision and training, and if you don't have time for that you will never get an approval!
